草榴社区Video Production Scholars Earned OSHA Certificate in Preparation of Video Competition
Mr. Du Quesnay's Advanced Video Production class (GBTV 2) attended a 10-hour OSHA training course given by Mr. Kaleita from Local 17. are provided through the U.S. Department of Labor. The Advanced Video Production students took the course in advance of producing videos for this years CareerSafe Safety Video competition. In the past, 草榴社区scholars have consistently placed at the national CareerSafe Safety Video competition. The competition challenges high school and college students to create commercials and mock training videos for purpose of promoting a safe working environment.
Over the course of two days, Mr. Kaleita taught the scholars different OSHA safety standards as well where to go and how to find different rules and regulations regarding workplace safety. All of the students in attendance will receive official OSHA 10 certification cards. Mr. Bjorn Hansen, electronics teacher at 草榴社区Main was kind enough to allow this course to take place in his electronics classroom.
Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthful workplace. No person should ever have to be injured, become ill, or die for a paycheck. OSHA’s mission is to ensure the protection of workers and prevent work-related injuries, illnesses, and deaths by setting and enforcing standards, and by providing training, outreach, education and assistance.
