Newburgh Free Library to host Community Shred Event and Health Fair on October 30
The Newburgh Free Library will be hosting a Community Shred Event and a Health Fair on October 30th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Health Fair will take place in the Newburgh Free Library plaza. In the case of rain or extreme temperature, the event will take place inside the library. Representatives from St. Luke’s Montefiore Cornwall, the Orange County Department of Health, Project Hope, Planned Parenthood, and other healthcare and service agencies will be available to offer information on quality, affordable medical services, healthy lifestyles, and health insurance coverage. Kicking the health fair off will be a free chair yoga class offered at 11 a.m. with Rae of Light Yoga studio.
The Community Shred event offered by the City of Newburgh Planning and Development Department, Senator James Skoufis’ Office and the Newburgh Free Library will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the municipal parking lot located at 110 Grand Street at the intersection of Grand Street and Second Street in the City of Newburgh.
The community is invited to bring their personal documents, financial statements, credit card offers, and other sensitive material to be securely shredded at no charge by the experts from Legal Shred. The process takes only a few minutes and is one of the easiest ways to ensure that private information held on paper files is disposed of securely.
A maximum of three (3) paper storage boxes (same size as copy paper comes in) or garbage bags will be accepted per person. Shredding service will be available on a first come first served basis.
Acceptable Items for the Community Shred Event include: Paper (white or colored), file folders, checkbooks, staples and paper clips, and small quantities of plastics including ID cards and credit cards. No need to worry about staples, paper clips, file folders, or even hardbound books.
The following items are not eligible to be shredded: Hard drives, backup tapes, x-rays, videos, cassettes, cd's, DVD’s, hazardous material, syringes or needles, or any heavy metal objects such as nuts, bolts, or metal plates.
Attendees are asked to wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines while at both events.
