HOH PTO and REACH Team Hosting Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month Celebration on Facebook Live
This week the HOH PTO and REACH Team have been hosting a Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month Celebration on Facebook Live.
Tonight's event, hosted by HOH Librarian Michell Jumpp, focused on MUSIC. HOH Music Teacher Kristina Martorano shared this awesome video of one of her 4th Grade classes (Mrs. Zouhairi) bucket drumming to legend Tito Puente's song Oye Como Va:
The first night was hosted by HOH Spanish Teacher Janie Bravo and focused on FOOD, it was a lot of fun and left everyone hungry! Tomorrow night we will meet some of the PEOPLE making a difference in Newburgh and talk about some great book resources, and we will end Friday night with a spotlight on ART! The HOH PTO and REACH Team want to thank faculty, staff and scholars who participated in our Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month Celebration last week. It was a wonderful time together!
Tuesday night we were joined by HOH Spanish Teacher Ms. Bravo to talk about food, everyone left hungry!
Wednesday we talked about music, our scholar Lusandra read us a book about the Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz and HOH Music Teacher Ms. Martorano shared a video of Mrs. Zouhairi's class bucket drumming to a Tito Puente song!
Thursday we had a fabulous talk with Newburgh's Police Commissioner José Gomerez. The scholars who joined us had so many wonderful questions, we also shared some questions from students who couldn't attend.
And Friday night HOH Art Teacher Ms. Licata taught us about Frida Kahlo and we talked about art with HOH alumna Ingrid whose art graced our flyer, Rural and Migrant Ministry's Youth Arts Group, and local artist Gerardo Castro.
Hosts were alumna, Ingrid, HOH Teacher & PTO President Mrs. Sickler, Parent Mrs. Clarke, HOH Instructional Technology Facilitator Mrs. Merritt-Scott, and HOH Librarian Mrs. Jumpp.
